Opinion: Why 60% of polled reject, unsure about Trump voting friends

After one of the nastiest presidential elections in modern history, Americans here and around the nation are asking if we can still be friends.
At deadline, nearly two-thirds of the more than 300 people who responded to our nonscientific survey answered “no,” “it depends” or “I don’t know” to our question: “Can you maintain friendships with those who voted for the opposite presidential candidate than you.”
Little more than a third responded “yes.”
Just shy of 55% of respondents self-identified as Democrats, 26% as Republicans and 20% as independent.
Hundreds wrote remarks explaining their feelings.
